Borsec
The town of Borsec is located in the mountain range of the Eastern Carpathians to the north-east of Harghita County, in a depression situated at the intersection of the Giurgeului Mountains and the Bistriței and Călimani Mountains. The mineral water springs are numerous, with a close and stable chemical composition over time, with variable flows but sufficient to be used economically and are currently the main economic engine of the resort. It has an administrative area of 9,600 ha and a population of 2,864 inhabitants.

Several public buildings in Borsec will be heated by a biomass-based system, through an investment of more than one million lei, made with European funds.
The fuel used will be wood chips and the circulation of the thermal agent will be provided by pre-insulated on-gas pipes mounted underground, the thermal agent used being glycol. The external distribution pipes will be connected to the existing heating installations in the buildings concerned.
