Projects undertaken in the development of the biomass concept

Tega SA
regional sanitation operator for mun. Sfântu Gheorghe and 37 local authorities in Covasna county, has been operating since 2008 its own heating plant that runs on biomass, i.e. branches and other wood and vegetable waste. The idea behind this project was precisely to collect the waste from the green spaces and plant debris from the households of Sfantu Gheorghe residents and use it to produce the thermal energy needed to heat the office building. The project was carried out within the framework of the programme Increasing the use of bioenergy co-financed by the Environmental Fund Administration.

Bertis
a successful business in the area, purchased a 500kW automated heating plant in 2011, which has been in operation for over ten years and provides heating at a much lower cost. Out of a need to reduce energy and production costs, Bertis switched from natural gas to biomass.

The business incubator in Sfântu Gheorghe
The heating system used to run on natural gas, but the price of this fuel increased from one year to the next, so 10 years ago the incubator managers decided to switch to a more economical and efficient system and installed a biomass heating boiler.

Casarbor
Casarbor Srl is a manufacturer of solid wood glamping huts, which can also be installed in more remote tourist environments.
The company has carried out an investment project for the production and supply of thermal energy from wood waste from the company's activity, co-financed by the EEA and Norway Financial Mechanisms, 2014-2021, under the RO - Energy for Renewable Energy - Renewable Energy for SMEs programme.
A wood waste based power plant with a total capacity of 3 MW has been installed at the company's headquarters, which will generate more than 9300 MWh of thermal energy and is estimated to mitigate CO2 emissions by 2192 t CO2 eq./year.
